Hey everyone,
I’ve been rethinking my API workflow recently, and it made me realize how much the Postman free plan has changed compared to what it used to be.
The current limitations (especially around collaboration) aren’t new anymore, but they’ve definitely changed how practical it is for small teams. What used to be an easy default for sharing collections and working together now feels more like a solo tool unless you’re on a paid plan.
I stuck with it for a while out of habit, but lately I’ve been questioning whether it still fits the way I work.
So I started exploring a bit, and it seems like people are going in different directions now:
-
upgrading and staying in the Postman ecosystem
-
switching to lighter/local-first tools like Insomnia or Bruno
-
moving toward OpenAPI + Git-based workflows
-
or trying newer all-in-one platforms
I tested a couple of options, and some of them (like Apidog) seem to bring back that “team-friendly by default” feeling that Postman used to have. Still experimenting though, so no strong take yet.
Curious how others are dealing with this in 2026.
Are you still using Postman as-is, paying for it, or have you moved on to something else?
Would be interesting to hear what actually works in real setups.
